The PGA TOUR returns to Pumpkin Ridge this August! Before the first annual WinCo Foods Portland Open in August 2014, Pumpkin Ridge last hosted a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event in 1994 with the Nike Tour Championship at Ghost Creek, one of two courses at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. The Bob Cupp-designed Witch Hollow plays host to the WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by Kraft Heinz. The PGA TOUR first came to Portland in 1936 and played 13 tournaments there with the last one held in 1966. Winners in Portland over the years include Sam Snead (1944), Ben Hogan (1945), Billy Casper (1959, ’60, ’61) and Jack Nicklaus (1962, ’64, ‘65). Local and regional spectators also got a taste of golf excellence with Tiger Woods’ unprecedented third consecutive U.S. Amateur Championship victory in 1996, the U.S. Women’s Open in 1997 and 2003, and the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in 2006, all at the exclusive, private Witch Hollow course. It’s an annual affair each year now as 156 of the world’s best golfer compete in the WinCo Foods Portland Open! The action returns August 24-27, 2017.
